The CRC EXT is pleased to announce the event “Bodies and Media: How Images Transform Us”, taking place as part of BookCity Milano 2025.
The event aims to discuss the feedback effects of media for medical visualization of the body on processes of identity formation. What do these images represent? How are they produced? What power do they hold in shaping scientific epistemologies? How do we relate to them? How can we manipulate, adapt, and transform them for purposes that are not necessarily medical? To address these questions, the authors of the two books will each give a brief thematic presentation of their research, followed by an open discussion on the feedback between media and technologies and their incorporation into morphology, beliefs, and everyday practices.
