XR Lab

XR Lab is a research laboratory dedicated to Extended Reality (XR), specifically Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR). It focuses its activities on the application development within three key media-related areas:

  • supporting the research initiatives of CRC EXT through readings and workshops;
  • offering technology-focused laboratory teaching in advanced educational programs;
  • guiding the media production sector by providing expert consultation to artists, filmmakers, and scientists working with emerging technologies.

The Lab collaborates closely with professionals from the fields of media production, artistic curation, and scientific experimentation.

Lab activities are organized into six work packages:

  1. Reading and Workshops. Annual thematic proposals focusing on emerging research topics to be developed through workshops and readings of fundamental texts.

    Coordinator: Pietro Conte

    2. Science and Media Xperiments. Events with STEM researchers who extensively use emerging technologies.

    4. Inclusive Policies. Initiatives to enhance and critically examine the relationships between gender perspectives and media products.
