Heat-Us is a project conceived by Chiara Cappelletto, Giulio Galimberti, and Arcangelo Merla, with choreography by Stefania Ballone, performer with the Ballet Company of Teatro alla Scala.
It originates within the doctoral research in Philosophy and Human Sciences of a member of the PIS – Performing Identities Studies research group and involves the Department of Philosophy “Piero Martinetti” at the University of Milan and the company Next2U s.r.l. The project stands out for its unprecedented collaboration between contemporary dance, academic research, and new technologies, with the aim of exploring the relationship between body, environment, and image.
At the core of the performance lies the use of thermal cameras, instruments capable of capturing and projecting body temperature in real time as images. Heat, normally invisible, thus becomes a scenic and dramaturgical language—a visual code that conveys presence, movement, and interaction between bodies. The audience is engaged in a participatory experience that challenges the boundaries between those who watch and those who act.
Heat-Us will be presented at the Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, in the ballroom of the Transatlantic Liner Conte Biancamano, with three performances scheduled for Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October 2025.
